How do I tell my programs to use the new modem
settings?
In general
- From the Start menu, choose Settings->Control
Panel.
- Doubleclick Modems.
- Select your new modem from the list.
- Make sure your new modem settings work correctly.
Then, if you aren't using any of the other modem settings
files, select and delete them.
- Click OK to close.
Dial-Up Networking
- Doubleclick My Computer.
- Doubleclick the Dial-Up Networking folder.
- Select a connection icon and choose Properties from
the File menu (or right-click on the connection icon and
choose Properties).
- Select your new modem from the Connect Using
drop-down menu.
- Click OK to save changes. Repeat for each connection
icon.
HyperTerminal
- When creating a new connection icon, select your
modem in the Connect Using: drop-down menu.
- To change the settings for an existing settings file,
either open it and choose Properties from the File menu,
or right-click on the connection icon and change the
modem in the Phone Number tab
