November 25

Thursday, November 27 is Thanksgiving in the U.S. I'll be in Georgia visiting my father, so the next news update will be on Monday. Happy holidays to everyone!

Diamond Multimedia will provide free upgrades to Shotgun, their 112K modem technology, for current Supra 56K owners.

Digicom Systems joins the list of companies offering free upgrades to the final ITU 56K standard.

Creative's Modem Blaster Flash 56K is really made by Digicom Systems. Creative has zero support on their site, and after looking over my documentation for it, for a URL for a firmware update, I found that Digicom Systems provides full support for it, including firmware updates. Creative doesn't have any links to Digicom Systems site from their page. The URL is http://www.digicomsys.com/

Hayes, Zoom, and Diamond Multimedia firmware updates

Brian Schuster and Simon Slater noticed that Diamond Multimedia has a new beta, 1.120-04, released November 21. It's available on their beta site at http://beta.supra.com/56k/. As with all betas, it may contain bugs.

Zoom has a MicroPhone LT settings file that allows Mac users to update the firmware of their Zoom modem. The file is called 56kuploader.bin, and is available from Zoom's 56K Support Files page.
