V.90 upgrades
Gordon Chu of Harmony USA notes that Harmony has released V.90 upgrades for their models HM18020-1, HM18020-2 and HM18020-3.
John Blue wrote to say that MaxTech V.90 upgrades are available for some models.
Computer Reseller News notes that the V.90 upgrade for some Megahertz 56K XJ1560 and CC1560 PC card modems will sometimes cause the modems to become inoperable. Only about twenty modems have been affected, but 3Com is withdrawing the upgrade pending investigation.
With any firmware upgrade there is a risk of frying the modem. Be sure to quit all other applications before executing a firmware upgrade. You may also want to disable your screensaver, fax software, or any other software that may activate during the upgrade process. 3Com believes that laptops operating on diminished battery power may be responsible for the problems experienced by Megahertz customers.
