Under the terms of Chapter 11, a company can continue to sell products and services and support existing customers while being protected from its creditors in order to reorganize its finances. Computer Retail Week reports large third quarter losses for Diamond Multimedia, which the company attributes to radical changes in their inventory model. ZDNet asks, "Is the modem market heading into a death spiral?" Other newsXircom is now shipping PC Card modems with the V.90 protocol. Ariel has a new CompactPCI RAS product that provides up to 60 V.90 or ISDN ports. It can be provisioned with PRIs, T1s, or European E1s. Analog Devices has announced a new 16-bit DSP that can handle six ports simultaneously. Each port can service ISDN, V.90, K56flex, and voice-over-IP.
