DSL ISPs Cable Companies Dialup Internet Service Providers
I have a Boca K56Flex modem. I get consistent initial connects under Windows 95 of 40K. Compressed downloads are averaging right around 5K cps. I have achieved a download of text files (newsgroup list from my ISP) 12.6K cps with compression. I am measuring my results using Net Monitor (by Charles Turano), a freeware program that replaces "lights.exe" and monitors throughput at the modem.
Using the FTP program built into Win95 (runs in DOS window). I downloaded the follwing binary files from my isp (datasync.com). The download rates are as reported by ftp, in KB/sec.
File / Size / Download Rate (KB/sec) msie20.exe / 1195008 / 4.76 winzip95.exe / 628991 / 4.63
