DSL ISPs Cable Companies Dialup Internet Service Providers
I did a lot of tests with my ELSA MicroLink 56K. At first, I always connected at 46000bps. After flashing the firmware from 1.00 to 1.02, the connect rate increased to 48000. Download speeds (Netscape) went up as well, to 5.1KBps max. I just did an FTP test download; here are the results:
Test download done with WS_FTP (Win 3.1) and Trumpet Winsock 3.0d
Modem used: ELSA MicroLink 56K
Connect speed displayed: 48000
Download from local FTP server (Darmstadt University of Technology)
Maximum speed displayed during download: 48.61Kbps
Average download speed: 48.00Kbps (file length 1003KB)
WS_FTP log says:
RETR amaile21.zip 150 Binary data connection for amaile21.zip (130.83.177.48,3108) (1027533 bytes). Received 1027533 bytes in 209.9 secs, (48.00 Kbps), transfer succeeded 226 Binary Transfer complete.
