Terminal Programs

This page will show you how to use a terminal program to get more information about your modem. Some of the information you may be able able to find includes:
  • brand and model
  • firmware version
  • connection and speed statistics for the last call
  • protocols supported (such as x2, K56flex, or V.90)

Pick your terminal program

Windows

Windows 3.1 Terminal

Windows 95/98 HyperTerminal

Windows 95/98 Modem Control Panel (can't do everything a terminal program can do, but it does report most ATI commands)

Macintosh

ClarisWorks

ZTerm

If using commands in the terminal program doesn't determine the manufacturer, see "Who Made my Modem?" You may be able to determine the manufacturer using the FCC numbers printed on the modem.
